Good evening. I have come across a Beatrice potter 50p coin. Dated 1866 to 1948 or 1943. Could it be worth anything? Happy to discuss further
My dad got excited when he saw one of these on Ebay for £4000. I presuming that’s just someone trying their luck and they arnt really worth that . Discuss ?
Hi Wendy. The extreme prices on Ebay are just chancers really, hoping some mug will come along and buy it for silly money.
How much are the 1866 to 1943 worth?
Approximate values are shown at the top of the page (next to the big coin image). What yours is worth will very much depend on the condition.
I have this coin.Mint condition.
Be careful using the term “mint” – that obviously means something in the world of coins. Mint condition would mean you got it direct from the Royal Mint, which I guess is not the case?

My mother passed away and was an avid 50p coin collector and she has left a huge collection which I have no idea how to dispose of – any tips would be welcome. She has bags and bags of Beatrix Potter and Paddington coins and was collecting the many other collections in the change checker files. There are also lots of £2 coins too and some from Royal Mint in collection cards. Any interest or help would be much appreciated
