More about the Girl Guides 50p

These special edition 50p coins were issued in 2010 to commemorate 100 years of the Girl Guiding movement.

Started in 1910 after a few determined girls turned up at the first Boy Scout Rally in 1909 asking for “something for the girls”. A few months later the Girl Guides was formed. 100 years on and  Girlguiding UK is stronger than ever, totalling over 550,000 members in 2009. There were more than 10 million Guides around the world, giving girls opportunities they might not get elsewhere.

You saw one “go for £800” or “for sale at £800”? An uncirculated one is worth £8 to £10 max.

Approx values are shown at the top of the page – next to the big coin image. What yours is worth will very much depend on the condition.
