More about the Pentathlon 50p
Issued as one of the 29 Olympic 50p designs to commemorate the games in London 2012. Each 50p features a different Olympic sport.
The winning designer for the Pentathlon 50p was Daniel Brittain, who picked Pentathlon for the added challenge of getting five sports into one coin design.
The Modern Pentathlon is commonly viewed as the most gruelling of the Olympic Games as athletes have to compete in the five different events over the course of a single day. The pentathletes compete in fencing, swimming, riding, combined shooting and cross country running.
